My name is Brian Jay. I am a nearly 30-year fan of wrestling (WWE, Classic wrestling, RoH, Lucha Underground, NJPW) and film, (especially horror and science fiction). After deciding not to go to film school/into film production or the wrestling industry after high school I settled down and began a family and career. During the decade I got married and developed as a personal financial consultant, I shelved any would-be creative exploits. Reams of notebooks filled with sketch comedy, film, and wrestling thoughts piled up in boxes and drawers in my home. As I sat on ideas and passed up opportunites, audio-visual technology became more affordable for DIYers. After I turned 28 my daughter, Sofia, was born. She inspired me so much, I began checking out every DIY resource on Youtube and Google from the Frugal Filmmaker to BFX, to the Audacity Podcast and Wrestling Soup. How could Dad tell her to go for broke if he never did, right?
So for the past two years I have been writing fiction, producing podcasts, and shooting video shorts. Some never left my hard drive or the dozens of notebooks kept in my office. Some are available here to view. After hosting The Program Wrestling Podcast for a year, I was out of reliable co-hosts and burned out on covering wrestling on a weekly basis. After discussing possible horror, sci-fi, Star Wars, and philosophy podcasts with Mr. positive I reunited with a childhood friend, Andy Ruff. We came together to create Brian Jay’s B Show: a website and channel dedicated to discussing the best and worst of wrestling, horror, sci-fi, Star Wars, animation, comics, pop-culture, philosophy, fan film theories, and anything alternative 90’s kids like us are interested in. In a sarcastic, irreverent, anti-PC “Randal and Dante” kind of way.
Part Smodcast, part Joe Rogan Experience, part Wrestling Soup, B Show podcasts are friends with diverse life experiences hanging out discussing their fandoms, life, and philosophy.
